Their specialty was to release tracks full of ambivalence and paradox, which, although extremely suitable for every illegal rave, sounded like miniature soundtracks to crazy science fiction novels or psycho-thrillers. A musical era that is known to have left its mark on Michael Mayer and has significantly shaped his career as a globally successful DJ and producer. "Brainwave Technology" is a nod back to a psychedelic time when electronic music regularly clouded our senses in order to open our eyes with it.

Mit der furiosen Single "Brainwave Technology" eröffnet Michael Mayer offiziell die Sommersaison und lässt uns von einer baldigen und unbeschwerten Rückkehr auf die Tanzflächen träumen. Den brandneuen Track mit all seinen Bleeps, Clonks und unheilvollen Vocal-Samples umweht bei aller hüftschwingenden Funkyness aber auch eine unterschwellige, fast düstere Atmosphäre, die uns an die frühen Releases von legendären Labels wie Nu Groove, Warp oder Vinyl Solution erinnert. Deren Spezialität war es nicht zuletzt, Tracks voller Ambivalenz und Paradoxie zu veröffentlichen, die obwohl ausgesprochen tanzbar für jeden illegalen Brücken-Rave geeignet, gleichzeitig wie Miniatur-Soundtracks zu durchgeknallten Science Fiction-Romanen oder Psychothrillern klangen. Eine musikalische Ära, die bekanntermaßen nicht ganz spurlos an Michael Mayer vorbeigegangen ist und seine Karriere als weltweit erfolgreicher DJ und Produzent maßgeblich geprägt hat. "Brainwave Technology" ist ein Wink zurück in eine psychedelische Zeit, in der elektronische Musik uns regelmäßig die Sinne vernebelte, um uns damit die Augen zu öffnen.
