Kollmorgen - All The Wild Animals
In order to slowly and carefully get into the musical and emotional cosmos of Emma Kollmorgen, we recommend listening to "BBC Radio 1's Wind Down presents KOMPAKT: Kollmorgen" as an introductory drug. Sensitive openings of (DJ) mixes have a great tradition at KOMPAKT. And so you think you're listening to an intro by Superpitcher or Tobias Thomas (just to quote two of the often-mentioned grand masters of quiet and slow music) when you listen to the first twenty minutes of Kollmorgen's "Wind Down" mix. If, for example, Chet Baker's "Almost Blue" hasn't already opened all your sensory buds, you'll have understood by "Home", a track by the artist herself, at the latest, what her electronic music is supposed to be about here. Kollmorgen had already set the tone back in 2021 with her debut "You Are The", and now she continues her mission with the single "All The Wild Animals", which sees the light of day today, a digital precursor of her debut EP "1243", which will be released on March 18 and which is available for pre-order now. "All The Wild Animals" comes in four different versions, two of which are remixes by - speaking of grandmasters - Acid Pauli, who cools the thoughtfulness of the original down another degree and a few BPM without losing any of its warmth. Such ambivalence is inherent in many of Kollmorgen's tracks. No wonder she is a fan of Chet Baker.

Um sich langsam und behutsam in den musikalischen und emotionalen Kosmos von Emma Kollmorgen einzufühlen, empfehlen wir heute als Einstiegsdroge, sich erstmal in Ruhe “BBC Radio 1's Wind Down presents KOMPAKT: Kollmorgen” anzuhören. Sensible Eröffnungen von (DJ-)Mixes haben bei KOMPAKT ja bekanntlich eine große Tradition. Und so meint man einem Intro von Superpitcher oder Tobias Thomas beizuwohnen (um nur zwei der an dieser Stelle oft genannten Großmeister von leiser und langsamer Musik herbei zu zitieren), wenn man sich den ersten zwanzig Minuten von Kollmorgens “Wind Down”-Mix hingibt. Wem zum Beispiel Chet Bakers “Almost Blue” nicht schon alle sensorischen Knospen geöffnet hat, der wird spätestens bei “Home”, einem Track der Künstlerin selbst, verstanden haben, um was es hier mit den Mitteln von elektronischer Musik gehen soll. Den entsprechenden Rahmen hatte Kollmorgen bereits 2021 mit ihrem Debüt “You Are The” gesteckt, nun setzt sie ihre Mission mit der heute das Licht der Welt erblickenden Single “All The Wild Animals” fort, einem digitalen Vorboten ihrer Debüt-EP "1243", die am 18. März veröffentlicht wird und die ab sofort im Pre-Order erhältlich ist. “All The Wild Animals” kommt im Gewand von vier verschiedenen Versionen, zwei davon sind Remixe von – à propos Großmeister – Acid Pauli, der die Nachdenklichkeit des Originals nochmal um ein Grad und ein paar BPM runter kühlt, ohne an Wärme zu verlieren. Eine solche Ambivalenz wohnt vielen Tracks von Kollmorgen inne. Kein Wunder, dass sie ein Fan von Chet Baker ist.
