Jatoma are all about the paradoxes, they are from the high north of europe yet their music sound like they should be from somewhere exotic. But thats not the only peculiar thing about them, because even though the majority of their sounds comes from acoustic 'earthly' material like the sound of cutting carrots, pouring cereals, handclaps, drums, human voices - even guitar - yet the processed outcome of their songs are very synthetic and futuristic. They don't deny a good 4/4 beat, but they also experiment a lot with stuff like 9/4 beats, ambient and almost all patterns are played or programmed deliberately untight. Another a-normality are their ages - the trios accumulated age gives 68 years but neither of them is in their twenties...tricky. The group was established through love to music, across generations, after an electronic jam-session weekend in January 2010 - it quickly developed to a full record deal with Kompakt.
