A highly respected house producer, label friend and noted Englischman in Berlin, Martin Dawson (also known as King Roc and one half of the Two Armadillos) had just completed two major collaborative projects with musical colleagues and friends when he passed away last November. The first one is called "Untitled", written and produced by Different Marks (Martin's project with Grzegorz DemiaƱczuk and Voitek TaraƱczuk), and has seen its release by Pets Recordings this week. It's available as a free download on Pets Recordings' soundcloud. The second project, a full version LP called "Golden Age Thinking" written by Two Armadillos, collects three previously released EPs and three new tracks (in digital format and on vinyl)... check it out at Two Armadillos' soundcloud. Here are some words from Martin's father: "In 2008, Martin visited an exhibition in Sao Paulo by the Brazilian visual artist, Vik Muniz. In the front of the accompanying book that Martin kept, there is a quotation from Muniz: "Art objects are sad and empty pieces of matter hung in the dark as long as no one looks at them. The artist does only half of the artwork, the observer does the rest." As musical artists, Martin and his friends have done their bit. It would be wonderful if you could be a listening observer for a while. DJs - you know what to do!"
