SOG and Freiland are the names of the two most purist projects under which Wolfgang Voigt has been developing his very own minimal techno music for three decades, repeatedly reducing it to the non-negotiable straight bass drum. Reset. Reset. Back to zero. Zero plus one. Plus one here means that, as a rule, only a single, reduced, whispered "noise" moves stoically, staggering, barely dancing around the bass drum. Crystal clear and reliable. Unclear why. Is that concept? In case of doubt, yes.
On the occasion of his art-exhibition “SOG” at the Micro Gallery in Köln-Mülheim, Wolfgang Voigt has presented 5 new, exclusive SOG pieces that seamlessly connect to some of their predecessors, or go beyond them. The whole thing comes as a limited edition direct-cut record (dubplate), plus a handmade, serial unique piece – 30cm x 30cm / silver jewelry band, printed paper on aluminum plate.

SOG und Freiland heißen die beiden puristischsten Projekte, unter denen Wolfgang Voigt seit nunmehr 3 Jahrzehnten seine ganz eigene Minimal-Techno-Musik immer wieder bis auf die unverhandelbare gerade Bassdrum zurückführt. Reset. Reset. Zurück auf Null. Null plus Eins. Plus Eins heißt hier, dass sich in der Regel nur ein einziges ausreduziertes, dahingehauchtes „Geräusch“ stoisch, taumelnd, kaum tänzelnd um die Bassdrum herumbewegt. Glasklar verlässlich. Unklar warum. Ist das Konzept? Im Zweifelsfall ja.
