Since his debut „Arqipelago“ (K2/4) Gui Boratto has achieved almost everything a techno artist can achieve these days. His album „Chromophobia“ including the omnipresent single „Beautiful Life“ has been a firm favourite amongst DJs from every angle. It‘s the rare combination of brilliant technical skills, an uncanny ear for catchy hooklines and this razorblade-sharp grooves that make him an exceptional figure in techno world of today. With „Anunciaciòn“ he‘s back where everything began: On Kompakt‘s dinghy K2. Soundwise, it‘s a wee bit darker than „Chromophobia“ but hey - that‘s this winter‘s fashion. But don‘t worry, there‘s still a fair amount of soulfulness involved. Gui promised to grace us with a new album next spring. Gosh, we can‘t wait for 2008 to end!
Gui Boratto hat innerhalb kürzester Zeit eine erstaunliche Karriere hingelegt. Seit seiner Debut 12“ „Arqipelago“ (K2/4) hat er weltweit so ziemlich alles abgeräumt, was es abzuräumen gab. Vom Minimalnerd von nebenan bis zu Prog-Titanen wie Sasha oder Digweed konnten sich alle auf seinen Sound einigen. Das liegt einerseits am sehr gehobenen technischen Niveau, auf dem Gui arbeitet, andererseits aber auch an seinem untrüglichen Gespür für catchy hooks und zwingende Grooves. Mit „Anunciaciòn“ macht Gui nun seit seinem Hit-Album „Chromophobia“ eine neue Ansage. Der Sound ist jahreszeitlich passend etwas darker aber dennoch beseelt, die Drums sind wie immer total auf dem Punkt und obendrein weiss Gui auch immer noch eine unterhaltsame Geschichte zu erzählen. Für den Herbst hat er uns sein neues Album versprochen. Wir können es kaum erwarten, dass der Sommer vorbei ist :)
