For Jolene 16, Danny Parton steps into new territory, unveiling the label’s first fully vocal-led single and perhaps its most unexpected release to date alongside vocalist Elsa Carolan. Rooted in a centuries-old English folk song from the 1700s yet reimagined through Jolene’s groove-rich, club-focused lens, the release unfolds across four distinct versions, from stripped-back dub textures to more eccentric, peak-time iterations. What emerged from a chance discovery of an old social media clip evolved into an effortless studio collaboration full of warmth and spontaneity, resulting in a record that feels equally suited to late-night dancefloors as it does sun-drenched summer sets. Original, unusual and undeniably infectious, Jolene 16 arrives with the kind of character rarely found in contemporary club music. The original ‘Extended Mix’ leads and sees Carolan’s hypnotic vocal stylings merge with Parton’s playful, dynamic production style as weight sub bass tones, oscillating tones and plucked strings ebb and flow atop a low-slung drum groove. The ‘Pwr Mix’ follows next, as the name would suggest shifting energy levels up with rising electronic lead lines, gritty stab sequences and murky bass layered with crisp drums. The ‘Dub Mix’ follows next again taking its namesake and stripping the original down to its bare bones of raw reduced drums and weighty bottom end.
