BKM 41ISSA / O-Wells
O-Wells and 41ISSA have teamed up for their first joint EP. Marking 41ISSA's release debut, the result is three tracks full of speed and space-filling melodies: think big festival stage, think rave, think 2010 dance music (in the best possible way). Taking influences from their early clubbing years in the late noughties, O-Wells and 41ISSA found a mutual musical voice in a large and crisp sound between electro, techno and trance. Catchy melodies take the lead, backed by reverberating claps and relentless basslines that build up to rich club tracks. Opener "Suzuki" is a 149-bpm laser-focussed workout with a raucous deep synth. The Berlin-based producers embrace the trancier side of contemporary club music in "Are You Ready", with a breezy ambient intro that leads into an epic dome of darkness. The more reflective"Pulse" takes it down a notch, breathing a sense of calm - an introverted techno track dripping with melancholy. A bleepy electro remix by Finnish DJ and producer Sansibar completes the spectrum of "BKM", an EP sure to be heard across club dancefloors this winter. "BKM" marks 41ISSA's first release as a producer. She's been part of Live From Earth since 2018 as a DJ, covering a wide range of genres with a zeal for emotional sound textures and a lot of bounce, from ambient to club and techno. O-Wells has been producing for more than a decade now, having found a musical home at Die Orakel lately. Both are not only partners in music, but also in life. "BKM" is short for "blutigekaesemauken", their joint alias as which they've been making music since their early days of dating.
Der Frankfurter Produzent O-Wells und die Berliner DJ 41ISSA haben sich für eine EP zusammengetan: "BKM" sind drei Tracks voller Geschwindigkeit und raumgreifender Melodien auf dem Berliner Label Live From Earth. Ein Sound, der in seiner Größe Festival-Headliner und (auf die beste Weise) Dance Music anno 2008 evoziert. Inspiration dafür lieferten ihnen ihre ersten Cluberfahrungen in den späten Nullerjahren. 41ISSA und O-Wells finden darüber eine gemeinsame musikalische Sprache, angesiedelt zwischen Elektro, Techno und Trance. Melodien stehen dabei ganz ohne Kitsch im Mittelpunkt, flankiert von viel Reverb und unnachgiebigen Basslines - satt und gemacht für den Club. Auf 149 bpm treibt eine kantige Synthline den Opener „Suzuki“ an, während links und rechts Motorradgeräusche an einem vorbeiziehen. Tranciger werden 41ISSA und O-Wells in „Are You Ready“, komplett mit Ambient-Intro und epischen Streichern. In „Pulse“ schalten die beiden einen Gang zurück. Hier geben sie der Melancholie Raum. Erneut zeigen sie ihr Gespür für Melodien, betten das Ganze aber in staubtrockenen Techno. Ein bleepiger Electro-Remix des finnländischen DJ und Produzenten Sansibar rundet „BKM“ ab – eine EP, die man im kommenden Clubwinter mit Sicherheit auf einigen Dancefloors hören wird. „BKM“ ist 41ISSAs erste Veröffentlichung. Sie ist seit 2018 Teil des Berliner Kollektivs Live From Earth. Als DJ deckt sie von Ambient bis Club und Techno eine breite Palette an Genres ab, mit einer Vorliebe für emotionale Texturen und viel Bounce. O-Wells ist seit über einem Jahrzehnt Produzent und DJ. In den vergangenen Jahren hat er beim Frankfurter Label Die Orakel seine musikalische Heimat gefunden. Das gemeinsame Release ist die logische Fortsetzung jahrelangen gemeinsamen Auflegens. O-Wells und 41ISSA sind nicht nur in der Musik, sondern auch im Leben Partner. Der Titel ihrer EP, "BKM", stellt eine Hommage an ihr gemeinsames Alias "blutigekaesemauken" dar, unter dem sie seit über fünf Jahren gemeinsam Musik machen. Beide leben in Berlin.
