“Côco do Macaco” (“Monkey’s Coconut”) A rare Brazilian classic from 1979, originally featured on the album “The Monkey’s Party” soundtrack to the legendary TV show “Planeta dos Homens” (“Planet of Men”)—is reborn for today’s dancefloors. Written by Orlandivo and Paulo Silvino, its original version channels unfiltered groove, wit, and Brazilian spirit. Now, thanks to the creative idea and vision of long-time label friend and collaborator Samuel Turcovich, “Côco do Macaco” is reimagined with a totally new electronic and house sensibility by two icons of Brazil’s electronic scene: Coppola, the São Paulo DJ/producer and master of sophisticated grooves, is known for curating immersive atmospheres wherever he plays. With releases on powerhouse labels like Diynamic (by Solomun), Kompakt, Universal Music, Tomorrowland Music, and more, he effortlessly connects global dance culture to deep Brazilian roots—whether sharing stages with legends like Rita Lee and Roberto de Carvalho or electrifying crowds in Barcelona, Amsterdam, or New York. Gui Boratto needs no introduction. A trailblazer in melodic techno and house, Boratto’s discography is celebrated worldwide. He’s produced and remixed for legends such as Paul Simon, Pet Shop Boys, and renowned electronic acts—while his releases on Kompakt and appearances at events from Coachella to Montreux Jazz Festival continue to influence and inspire the scene. Boratto’s sonic signature is emotion, innovation, and unmistakable Brazilian flavor. This special new version introduces vocalist LAAU, whose young and fresh style brings a contemporary edge, adding soul and presence that lift the track into a new era. This new version of “Côco do Macaco” is a daring blend of hypnotic electronic layers, percussive grooves, and a true homage to the spirit of the original—a cult favorite among DJs and collectors worldwide. More than forty years since its first vinyl pressing, this Brazilian treasure is ready to ignite a new generation of dancers and music lovers. Get ready to listen, celebrate, and move—tradition never sounded so fresh.
