Brazil's definitely on fire. There's tons of amazing music coming from there. Apart from consense bands like CSS or Bono do Role or veterans like Sepultura or Bebel Gilberto there's a new generation of electronic musicians getting ready to conquer the world. Looks like Gui Boratto is just the tip of the iceberg. Fresh from Sao Paulo's impeccable THE EDGE club we're happy to present you DUBSHAPE. The project consists of DJ Joao Lee and his production partner Ale Reis. Joao earned himself an excellent reputation as a hell of a good DJ. Someone who knows how to play deep. This wisdom certainly helped to forge the sound of DUBSHAPE which is simple but tremendously classy. „Droplets“ sounds like a distilled essence of the past two decades of house music. It sounds like it's always been there. Like a good friend. It's impossible to detect a direct link to something you've heard before but at the same time soem truly great moments come back to your mind: Mr Fingers, Marshal Jefferson, Carl Craig, Ray Castoldi, die Burell brothers and even Dixons contemporary Innervisions cosmos. It's all in there. „Droplets“ is like a great bottle of red wine unless you shouldn't put this record in your basement. It should be played out loud.
Brazil is on fire! Unglaublich, wieviel tolle Musik gerade daher kommt. Ganz abgesehen von Konsensthemen wie CSS und Bondo do Role passiert vor allem in Sachen Clubmusik so einiges. Kein Wunder, denn mit dem Club „The Edge“ in Sao Paulo verfügt das Land auch über eine der besten Spielstätten der Welt. Genau hier residiert unser jüngster Neuzugang, DJ Joao Lee seit Jahren und erspielte sich so eine hervorragende Reputation als „master of the deep“. Zusammen mit seinem Freund Ale Reis bildet er das Projekt DUBSHAPE. Ihre Musik ist zwar sehr schlicht, aber mit einer Klasse ausgestattet die nach Superlativen schreit. „Droplets“ klingt so, als wäre es schon immer da gewesen. Sehr klassisch, sehr wissend und echt. Wir fühlen uns an magische Momente der vergangenen zwei Dekaden Housemusic erinnert, ohne genau die Bezugspunkte benennen zu können. Es schwingt alles gleichermassen mit: Mr Fingers, Marshal Jefferson, Carl Craig, Ray Castoldi, die Burell Brüder bis hin zu Dixons aktuellem Innervisions Kosmos. „Droplets“ ist wie ein guter Wein. Das heisst jetzt aber nicht, dass Ihr die Platte jahrelang in den Keller legen sollt.
