As a music supervisor I’ve worked on more than 70 feature films since 2004. Most of the time I’m having to deal with music that is already existing, so-called source music, music that is coming from a source, e.g. a radio, a car stereo, loudspeakers in a disco, headphones. Usually this is music that had already been existing. Most of the directors I work for tend to only use source music, also called diegetic music – music that is part of the fictional setting and heard by the characters. Not using specially composed, incidental music, an underscoring, is often meant as a (film)political statement, i.e. not wanting the music to stimulate the viewer’s emotions.

Martin Hossbach Score will release music that could be used for films, both as an underscore (as »score», as most people will say) or as source music. It is meant to get directors and producers interested in the composers whose music I release. Martin Hossbach Score a library to which everyone has access through download or streaming platforms. Should you be interested in licensing any of the music I’ve released (that goes for all of my labels, of course), simply get in touch.

The first release on Martin Hossbach Score is just one song – a song which would work really well in a film, wouldn’t it? In what film I hear you asking? Well, I’ll leave the answer to you! »Ein Männlein steht im Walde« is a German tradional, a song for children, with lyrics written by the German poet August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben. The Viennese Teresa Rotschopf produced the song for a compilation by Andreas R. Peternell and Wolfgang Pollanz, »Sing Sang Song«, which came out on the Austrian label Pumpkin Records a while ago. »Throughout my childhood I was really intrigued by the image of this little man, standing in the woods, quietly and all by himself. What was he doing there? And why all by himself? Little did I know that it was all about rosehips…«, says Rotschopf. There will be more score-related music from Teresa Rotschopf coming soon!
