Danny and Mike Parton return with the ninth instalment of Jolene Records, once again showcasing the labels signature sample heavy house sound across a split EP.

The Danny and Mike Parton helmed Jolene was launched as a celebration of groove-laden house music with real heart. Drawing on inspirations from French filter-house (the “French Touch” aesthetic), classic 90s house, disco and funk and through this they’ve crafted a label that blends vintage influences and modern club-ready energy. Here the story continues in the same sonic space with its ninth release.

Mike Parton’s ‘Juste Une’ leads the way on a classic house tip with snappy snares, shuffled hats and bumpy kicks, intertwined with funky bass licks, choppy samples and spoken word French vocals. ‘Just Want To Dance’ then follows and lays down looping, sweeping filtered guitar licks, swinging drums and wandering keys and storytelling vocal layover throughout.

Danny Parton’s contributions follow on the latter half of the EP, first up is ‘Blute’ once again aesthetically leaning towards a more 90’s house sound via cleverly sampled and intricately intertwined strings, vocal chants, brass licks and bass notes underpinned by a raw rhythm section. ‘Daryl’ then concludes the release, a hip-house leaning jam fuelled by twitchy resonant synth licks, choppy stabs, scratchy fx and an amalgamation of hip hop voices ebbing and flowing throughout.
