Jolene kick starts 2026 with its tenth release, another split between Danny & Mike Parton comprising four original cuts in the labels signature raw house style. Jolene Records is a house-music label founded by brothers Danny and Mike Parton, taking inspiration from 90s house, disco, funk, and the classic French-touch sound. Since launching in 2024, the label has made an indelible mark on the underground since its inaugural JOLENE 01 release, offering a growing run of vinyl and digital EPs, and the expansion of its roster with artists like Jérémy Delvila and Mike Sandcastle. With its warm, sample-driven grooves and consistently high-quality output, Jolene has quickly built a reputation as a fresh yet nostalgic force in modern house music. Jolene 010 opens with Danny Parton’s aptly titled ‘Funk U Up’ on the a-side, a punchy fusion of chopped funk licks, twitchy synth flutters, classic house stabs, and rugged break-driven drums. ‘Mender’ Duflin’ follows with a raw, reduced edge, swaying sub-bass, bumpy toms, murky stabs, siren-like synths, and tightly-processed vocal textures. On the flip, Mike Parton takes over with ‘So Sorry’, a skippy, stripped-down roller woven with bright chords, ghostly synth atmospheres, warped vocal fragments, and a snaking low-end groove. Closing the EP, ‘Pas Le Temps’ delivers a robust drum-machine workout, rich with organic percussion, cleverly chopped vocal chants, and sharp brass flourishes.
