What a wonderful and unexpected surprise: 25 years after the release of Kante’s “Die Summe der einzelnen Teile,” Acid Pauli has delivered a magnificent remix. His uptempo techno version breathes new life into this Hamburg School classic—a German song that reflects on the wonders of making music: “In some moments, for a while, something emerges that is greater than the sum of its parts.” Acid Pauli first played the unreleased track in his live sets and on his Pingipung podcast (#175), and when he asked Kante what they thought of the dopamine-fueled interpretation of their 2000 pop hit in his DJ mix, there were thumbs-up all around and beaming faces. When it turned out that Acid Pauli had yet another Kante edit up his sleeve, this 7“ single quickly took shape. On the B-side, he combines his kick drums with the slow, wistful ”California" from Kante’s 1997 debut album *Zwischen den Orten*. So here it is: Pingipung proudly presents “Kante on Acid”—two bangers for the festival season that take us back to the roots of Hamburg pop music, infused with Acid Pauli’s characteristically energetic, psychedelic groove.
