Kettle Point EP Rod Modell

Rod Modell began making electronic music in the early 80's, after being influenced by the "industrial" music scene. "Bands" such as SPK, Human Head Transplant, Psychic TV, and Hafler Trio were Rod's initial influences, but he soon grew tired of the harshness of this genera, and persued softer noises. Rod composed many ambient projects during this "soft noise" period. Waveform Transmission "v1.0-1.9" by Modell was released on Kim Cascone's SILENT Records in San Francisco California in 1996, followed by several other atmospheric cd's such as "Sonic Continuum" on Hypnos (www.hypnos.com ), and "Autonomous Music Project" + "Radio Fore" on Italy's Amplexus Records (www.amplexus.it - see LUNAR). Rod has also contributed music to many compilation cd's, and has recorded atmospheric background music for US television network The Discovery Channel. In the late 90's, Rod co-founded deepchord records (www.deepchord.com ) in Detroit as an outlet for his "dirty" minimal tracks, and continues to produce music for this label. Rod also takes on audio-mastering jobs (electronic music), and has recently done mastering for Rich Hawtin's M-NUS label. Rod's name appears in the credits on the NIEDERFLUR "nd4", and the THEOREM "THX" M-NUS cd's. Rod has also produced music for PACOU's (of Tresor fame) L.L. label (see "label" at www.pacou.com ), played in the 2002 Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF), and has been featured in many magazine articles / reviews. All-in-all, Rod has close to 30 releases including compilations.
