Another stunning release on Niederflur´s very own imprint Niederflurtracks. This time the topic is: great scandals of the post-wartimes in West-Germany! What??? Yes! Being all about concepts, Hannes and Christopher thought of a nice bunch of scandals to lend their names to the 4 tracks of this EP.

Starting off with the great “Neue Heimat” (translating to “New Home”), which was a huge Union-owned realty-company, which built all these big housing-projects after WWII, that stand now for a failed concept of urbanity. The CEO of Neue Heimat, Albert Vietor, managed to skim the company for as much as 105 million German Marks (approx. 70 million $) for his personal benefit. What a scandal!

Next in line is “Nitribitt”. She was a (apparently) very entertaining young lady that partied and mingled in late 50´s Frankfurt am Main, driving her famed black 190 SL Mercedes. Her violent demise in November 1957 led the investigators to the highest ranking personalities in both West-German politics and business, who allegedly obstructed the investigation of the murder and finally had it shut down. Scandal!

“Konrad Kujau” was a genius in forging stuff like famous art pieces, historical writings like Hitler´s diary. Yes! He made up an entire series of Adolf´s diaries with most intimate details of the Fuhrer´s life and digestion! And he made the big shots of one of West-Germany´s biggest news-magazines look like complete idiots! Scandalous!

Last in this very educational line of scandals is “Flick”, which is a landmark in post-war West-Germany´s political landscape. As it turned out in the early 80´s, a whole bunch of politicians were on the payroll of Flick to serve the interest of his company. When it all came to light and was brought to court, nobody remembered anything about the affair claiming “blackouts” all around! Scandal!

So, what does history teach us? That humans are easily corrupted? That a rather rich, safe and somewhat mediocre country as West-Germany has a dark side, too? And what has all this got to do with Techno? We don´t know the answer. But growing up in the 80´s and 90´s, these scandals were part of our lifes in a way, too. Somehow these four new tracks and the feeling that came up when hearing those names and incidents again fit perfectly together. Think, what you like. But listen to the music!
