Teresa Rotschopf’s »Now I See« is the fifth release on Martin Hossbach Score, a sub-label dedicated to music that could be used for films, both as an underscore or as source music – a library to which everyone has access through download or streaming platforms.

»Now I See« is an adaption of the title melody of »Das Mädchen aus dem Bergsee«, directed by Miriam Unger. The film is part of the »Landkrimi« (countryside murder mystery) series by ORF. The series takes place in the nine states that make Austria. For the release on Martin Hossbach Score Rotschopf produced an extended version of the title melody and turned it into a song in its own right.

Rotschopf explains: »The location of ›our‹ country murder mystery was Tyrol – mountainous, cold, withdrawn in lonely valleys – a young prostitute is murdered. The script for the second part is currently being written, and filming will start in early 2022. I will write the score again, once more with Patrick Pulsinger. ›Now I see‹ arose from the threatening mood I described earlier. As I grew up in the Austrian Alps myself, I was able to empathize with this physical and psychological cold, even if I left both behind a long time ago, thank God. These days mountains I associate less with a feeling of loneliness but with calm and sublimity, maybe even power although that is a bit of a cliché, I know. After the director and us had agreed on a certain sound aesthetic – the central starting point being my debut album ›Messiah‹ – we had a relatively free hand in our work. Of course, there are many people involved in the final decision. Finding a common denominator wasn’t always entirely easy. At the same time, this process taught me how important a passionate relationship with music is to me. That it is actually only this passion which is what I'm about. Here, I can be extremely stubborn and uncompromising. But that's ok.«
