We can barely imagine a better start to the new year. For our 21st release "Obsidian" many friends pulled together. The EP features one original track and three remixes. The original track "Obsidian" was co-composed by Sun Drine, Dit:Eau, Ben Jarli and TrickyJones.

Friendship, kinship and a common passion for many shades of electronic music made these four creative spirits set foot on an adventurous trail: a spontaneous collaboration.

A studio session makes a fruitful birthday gift, and what started with the sole and humble ambition of having a good time skinny-dipping in synths & sounds, soon evolved into a harmonic workflow that none of them could have anticipated.

An outburst of rhythmic elements in a gloomy atmosphere and a rolling bassline carrying a sparkling/flamboyant breakbeat make Obsidian a tune resembling an obscure igneous rock - petrified lava that preserves its natural force, energy and heat for those special occasions.

As a senior stone mason infamous for his fine sonic carvings, Bernstein transforms the original's dark timbres into a driving and bubbly gem, a shining spherolite in a flowstone cave. With their fierce and powerful interpretation, ki ya tori take the original to the floor, without further adue. In the spirit of adept reductionism, avsluta's ambient mix rounds this EP off to a coherent yet versatile whole.
