Jörg Burger, also known as The Modernist is a man of the first hour. Since the bass drum is straight, the Cologne primary rocker is always varying his sound in different ways. His unmistakable rhythm as well characterizes 'Polyform 1.' 'Novacheck,' on the A-side is pleasantly oldschoolish. Over the cool and bouncing techbass, a trustingly tripping organ-theme is boring in your spoiled ears. The new liability to the moments of surprise is gallantly laid over the good old straight-forward minimalism without throwing it off the track. The title track comes quite housey without being house. With chic bleeps and decorated with restrainedly dubby chord-scheme, 'Polyform 1' comes with a few new sound facets, with smartly kicking popper techno from the very chic new sound laboratory. Somehow this record has a very relaxed self-confidence as if it would want to say: techno will never die. Timelessly beautiful.
