Surfing On Sinewaves Polygon Window

Originally released in 1993, “Surfing On Sine Waves” is the second release and first artist album in Warp's “Artificial Intelligence” series (which also includes the two compilations of the same name as well as contributions from Autechre, The Black Dog, F.U.S.E. and others). “Surfing On Sine Waves” is also the only album under Richard D. James' (Aphex Twins) pseudonym Polygon Window. The name “Polygon Window” first appeared as a track title under Richard D. James' other pseudonym The Dice Man as a contribution to the first “Artificial Intelligence” sampler. In contrast, the album title “Surfing On Sine Waves”, chosen by Warp co-founder Rob Mitchell, is based on a quote from Richard D. James. The album entered the British dance charts at #2 in 1993. In the same year, the accompanying EP “Quoth” followed with the album original plus three additional, exclusive tracks. 32 years later, in 2025, the “Surfing On Sine Waves (Expanded Edition)” combines the two releases into one for the first time.
