THE SHADOW OF ZANO Bliz Nochi

A musical thread connecting two eras. Throughout the 2000s, Oleg fka Bliz Nochi explored different musical identities and sounds while living in Moldova. Zano was the final project of that period, shortly before Bliz Nochi emerged. This EP brings two unreleased Zano-era compositions back to life: “Danse du Soleil”, created with Sandra Bourdonec, and “The Way of the Samurai” — alongside the contemporary Bliz Nochi track “Unudeotavia.” Created more than a decade apart, the three tracks share a fascination with atmospheric textures, organic electronics, rhythmic experimentation and the space between trip-hop, chillstep, dub and experimental music. “Danse du Soleil” and its accompanying video were originally created around a Kinokabaret project shortly after Oleg arrived in Hamburg, but remained unreleased for almost a decade. “The Way of the Samurai” features a spoken-word sample from Jim Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog — a reflection on the final act of a samurai even after his head has been cut off. Something from the past steps out of the shadow of Zano — and meets what came after.
