connected veterans Aaaron & Deckertare back after a three-year hiatus with a heavyweight new EP that includes a remix from Floyd Lavine.
Aaaron is associated with the likes Yoshitoshi Recordings, Innervisions and Frau Blau and is straight out of the Berlin club scene. He has worked with fellow Berlin artist Deckert since they first hooked up on 2017’s 'Moon' and 'Last Day on Earth' EPs. They have continued to develop their sound since then and now come on strong with a pair of richly organic house tracks.
Opener 'Tranquility' is a deep house roller infused with a soulful and melancholic vocal. A lone wandering synth leads you into the night with a real sense of narrative and the taught, driving drums keep you locked in. The equally excellent 'Burning Idols' shows a more experimental side to this duo with rhythmic vocals, bass and synth all playing around one another as they build to a crescendo. Once the drop comes the floor will be transfixed by the hypnotic groove.
South African remixer Floyd Lavine is a connected regular who has released on labels like Watergate, Rise and Afrikan Tales, and gigs at the likes of Watergate and Glastonbury. His version shifts the focus from the melodies to the edgy drums, with his famously heavy afro tech stylings making for a fresh new tune.
