Ahead of the curve, Brazilian label D Edge Records is back with another fine EP, this time from Nomumbah. The Brazilian trio serve up three hot tracks that will warm through any dance floor.
Nomumbah is Ale Reis, André Torquato and Rafael Moraes, and they have a soulful take on house and electronic music that has found them link up with Osunlade’s esteemed Yoruba label as well as Sonar Kollektiv. Their work—released over the last ten years— has picked up fans such as Henrik Schwarz, Atjazz, Jazzanova and Louie Vega, and the trio have played all over the world as a result.
First up here is Udu, five smooth and spaced out minutes of mid tempo deep house with cosmic melodies. A perfect set builder, it is warm and colourful, emotive and honest. Then comes the marvellous Mutum, just as deep and warm, but more upbeat, with pixelated chord stabs and bass riding up and down the scale. It’s classy stuff, for sure. Finally, Bullets completes the trio of top tracks with rippling chords, rubbery drums that infect your soul and real melodies that are magic and musical.
This is a connoisseur package of real deep house that has meaning, mood and groove to spare.
