We are glad to announce the album Waves 2 by Curd Duca, the second part of the trilogy Waves:
Austrian electronic composer Curd Duca is widely known for his 1990es series of critically acclaimed easy listening 1-5 (Normal) and elevator 1-3 (Mille Plateaux).
After a long break from the studio, Duca has issued part 1 of the Waves series in late 2020 on Magazine. That was in fact his first album since 20 years. The Waves recordings pick up the thread of his 90s work and open up a new chapter. Again, everything changes constantly and all tracks are quite different (soft, rough, melodic, abstract ... ), but complement each other in a surprisingly coherent way to form a singular universe.
Waves 2 takes off into more experimental realms, expanding on Duca's unusual ombination of avantgarde aesthetics and organic qualities.Duca navigates through spaces deep and wide, in a flowing succession of soothing and sometimes elusive moments. The music is elegant, light and transparent, occasionally dark and raw, sometimes veering off into microtonal scales.

Curd Duca war in in den 90er-Jahren ein fester Bestandteil der experimentellen elektronischen Musikszene. Seine Serie elevator 1 - 3 auf dem Frankfurter Label Mille Plateaux war einzigartig und wird noch heute von Kennern hochverehrt. Im letzten Herbst (2020) veröffentlichte das Kölner Label Magazine den ersten Teil einer Nachfolgetrilogie. Waves 1 ist damit tatsächlich das erste Album von Curd Duca seit 20 Jahren. Boomkat schreibt dazu: "Curd Duca’s return could hardly be better timed for an era clearly in need of enchantment and peace ... " Auf der Waves-Trilogie ist sofort Ducas unverwechselbare Handschrift seiner früheren Arbeiten zu erkennen. Wieder ändert sich alles ständig. Kein Stück ist wie das andere. Eine feierliche Stimmung umweht die Kompositionen, und die schnellen Wechsel verbreiten wunderbares Entrücktsein. Curd Duca steuert auf der vorliegenden Waves 2 durch noch fernere Klangräume und bewegt sich manchmal in mikrotonalen Skalen. Die Musik ist dunkel und rau und berührt uns doch immer wieder tief mit ihrer organischen und emotionalen Dichte.
