Windowlicker / Going Back To My Roots Raz & Afla

Two special cover versions by Afro-electronic duo Raz & Afla, released for the first time on 12“ (white label). First, the two Aphex Twins take the dark dancefloor smash ”Windowlicker" (1999) to a completely unexpected place: a strongly percussive reinterpretation full of eerie, wordless vocals, funky guitars, and creepy synths that develops into a kind of future Afro house anthem without neglecting the genius of the original. “Going Back To My Roots,” an integral part of Raz & Afla's live sets, is given a unique dancefloor feel by them. Written and recorded by Lamont Dozier in 1977, covered by Richie Havens in 1980, it became a huge crossover hit in 1981 in the version by the disco formation Odyssey.
