One highly praised full-length later, MICHAEL MAYER’s release schedule is still crammed with premium content. His sophomore album MANTASY (KOMCD100/KOM250) already saw two successful remix EP’s sporting some of Michael’s favorite artists, a series that now finds a fitting last chapter with MANTASY REMIXE 3. Four exciting reworks take you up close and personal with top players from Kompakt’s inner circle, including JÜRGEN PAAPE, JÖRG BURGER (aka The Modernist), MATIAS AGUAYO and TERRANOVA.
JÜRGEN PAAPE starts the roundelay with an elegantly coasting take on the album’s title track MANTASY. Where the original openly acknowledges its roots in muscular Italo Disco, this revamp caters more to the fluffy glamour of mid-nineties house, styling itself as effervescent as necessary and as nonchalant as possible. MATIAS AGUAYO gives a performance as everybody’s favorite late-night crooner on his remix of idiosyncratic groover LAMUSETWA, laying down some kind of mutant lounge sound, or “Bossa Novocaina” as we like to call it. Don’t miss out on the cool easter egg hidden in the lyrics… Remember 1997’s “Frost”, one of Michael’s earliest releases? Well, now you do. In the meantime, TERRANOVA brings the bounce back to gloomy ravisher ROSES, unsurprisingly ramping up the pressure with a shadowy banger sure to muster a keen crowd. Clearly a prime time choice, this one will see some hefty airplay when DJs find themselves in need of an exclamation mark. Last, but not least, you’ll hear JÖRG BURGER aka The Modernist capping off a splendid remix package with a sun-drenched version of the inspiring BAUMHAUS, the only track featured in all three MANTASY REMIXE EPs.. a tremendously fitting closer for the adventure that was MANTASY. But don’t be sad: there’s always a house in the tree for you and me.

Ein hochgelobtes Album später und MICHAEL MAYER hat immer noch ausreichend Asse im Ärmel: Höhepunkte von MANTASY (KOMCD100/KOM250) wurden bereits auf zwei erfolgreichen Remix-EPs von persönlichen Favoriten des Kompakt-Chefs umgestaltet, nun folgt mit MANTASY REMIXE 3 das passende letzte Kapitel der schlagkräftigen 12”-Reihe. Der innerste Label-Zirkel rückt hier in den Fokus, mit vier spannenden Neubearbeitungen von JÜRGEN PAAPE, JÖRG BURGER (alias The Modernist), MATIAS AGUAYO und TERRANOVA.
JÜRGEN PAAPE beginnt den Reigen mit einem elegant gleitenden Versuch über den Album-Titeltrack MANTASY. Wo das Original sich noch öffentlich an muskulöser Italo Disco ergötzte, regiert nun der luftige Glamour von Frühneunziger House in einem Remix, der sich so quirlig wie nötig und so lässig wie möglich gibt. MATIAS AGUAYO hingegen schlüpft in die Lieblingsrolle des Barfalken am Mikrofon und zerrt das idiosynkratisch groovende LAMUSETWA ins Halbdunkel, wo sich schattenhafte Gestalten zum mutierten Lounge-Sound des Bossa Novocaina wiegen. Außerdem im Angebot: ein cooles Easter Egg in den Lyrics… erinnert sich jemand an das 1997er “Frost”, eine von Michaels ersten Veröffentlichungen? Jetzt auf jeden Fall.
In der Zwischenzeit bringt TERRANOVA das Ausrufezeichen zurück zu ROSES und erhöht mit gezielten Hieben auf den Hinterkopf den Druck den Druck auf den Tanzflur. Das gilt schon jetzt als erste Wahl für die Primetime, wird dem DJ aber auch anderweitig leicht von der Hand gehen, soviel sei versprochen. Als krönenden Abschluss einer in mehrfacher Hinsicht runden Sache schließlich präsentiert JÖRG BURGER alias The Modernist seine sonnengeflutete Version von BAUMHAUS, dem einzigen Track der auf allen drei MANTASY REMIXE EPs vertreten ist… ein überaus passendes Finale für das Abenteuer, das MANTASY war.
