Robag Wruhme – a man who needs little introduction as he is one of our most recognised members of the Kompakt family. His story with the label began as a half of the now legendary Wighnomy Bros..Their 2004 release WURZ + BLOSSE (KOM EX 19 / SPEICHER 19) was the pivotal single in defining a renegade techno approach that continues to aspire the series today.

The solo career of Robag Wruhme is as illustrious and courageous as it gets for being an electronic musician and DJ. Through a long series of EP releases on Musilk Krause that includes the defining 2004 album “WUZZELBUD KK” through to becoming a core member of DJ Koze’s Pampa Records family with two full length albums and EP’s, his connection to Kompakt has never faltered with a stream of EP releases including last year’s lockdown hit “Calma Calma” (KOM EX 115 / SPEICHER 115).

As one of our favourite DJ’s, it was a complete no-brainer to ask Robag Wruhme to be the second to contribute to our CONNECTING THE DOTS series. He delivered a mix that is beyond expectations and true to form with his style, showcasing the extensive knowledge of our catalogue in the best of ways. Through layering up to 4 tracks at the same time covering literally the course of our label’s long history, Connecting The Dots features the likes of Michael Mayer, Jörg Burger, GusGus, Closer Musik plus even a cameo from German actor, Kai Schuman.

CONNECTING THE DOTS is our new monthly DJ Mix series that invites our favourite DJs to have access to our 15k + track catalogue of the Kompakt family of labels and tell their own interpretation of our musical history. Beyond that, we see this as our way to voice the need for artists' music used in DJ mixes should be paid for their tracks being used – and we challenge others to bring to streaming platforms more mixes as an alternative away from the constant tsunami of free / illegal DJ mixes online.
Robag Wruhme - ein Typ, der kaum einer weiteren Vorstellung bedarf, gehört er doch zu den weltweit bekanntesten Mitglieder der KOMPAKT-Familie. Die ganze Geschichte begann für Robag einst als eine Hälfte der legendären Wighnomy Bros. Deren 2004er Veröffentlichung “Wurz + Blosse“ (KOM EX 19/SPEICHER 19) war eine dieser wegweisenden 12inches, um einen etwas anderen Techno-Ansatz zu definieren, - etwas, was die SPEICHER-Serie bis heute anstrebt.

Als Solo-Künstler kann Robag Wruhme längst auf eine beachtliche Karriere als elektronischer Musiker und DJ zurückblicken. Angefangen bei einer ganze Reihe von EPs für Musik Krause, wo auch das stilprägende 2004er Album “Wuzzelbud KK" erschien, über zwei Alben und EPs für DJ Koze's Pampa Records bis hin zu vielen Veröffentlichungen für KOMPAKT, einschließlich dem letztjährigen “Lockdown-Hits” "Calma Calma" (KOM EX 115/SPEICHER 115) - seine enge Verbindung zu uns hat nie nachgelassen.

Weil er nebenbei auch einer unserer Lieblings-DJs ist, mussten wir nicht lange darüber nachdenken, um Robag Wruhme zu bitten, den zweiten Teil unserer CONNECTING THE DOTS-Serie zu liefern. Natürlich hat Robag’s Mix alle unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Stilsicher zeigt er uns, wie gut er unseren Label-Katalog kennt. An manchen Stellen legt er mal eben vier Tracks übereinander und erzählt so ganz nebenbei den Verlauf der langen Geschichte unseres Labels. Sein Connecting The Dots enthält u.a. Tracks von Michael Mayer, Jörg Burger, GusGus, Closer Musik und schließlich einen Cameo-Auftritt des deutschen Schauspielers Kai Schuman.

CONNECTING THE DOTS ist unsere neue monatliche DJ-Mix-Reihe, die unsere Lieblings-DJs dazu einlädt, sich am reichhaltigen Buffet unseres über 15.000 Tracks umfassenden Back-Katalogs zu bedienen und so auf ihre ganz eigene Art die musikalischen Geschichte der KOMPAKT Label-Familie zu erzählen. Darüber hinaus sehen wir dieses neue Format als eine Möglichkeit, um sicherzustellen, dass KünstlerInnen, deren Musik in DJ-Mixen verwendet wird, für ihre Tracks bezahlt werden - und wir fordern auch andere Labels und Plattformen auf, endlich Alternativen zu dem permanenten Tsunami an kostenlosen bzw. illegalen Online-DJ-Mixen anzubieten.
